可塘社区设在可塘墟上，是可塘镇的商业和交通中心，管辖10个居民小组。[1]

社区一带自古是集市所在，旧街巷中，宫前街、北门街、新民街、车仔街、张厝巷、米街、老鱼街、茶布街等都在圩内。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

博雅地名网记，南宋绍兴年间已立可塘村。解放初归六区可塘镇，1952年改属九区可塘乡，1958年划入可塘公社，是其中的可塘大队；1961年起圩上另设居委，1987年改叫可塘镇的居委会，2004年定名可塘居委会，此后未变。[1]

经济[edit]

墟日定在农历每月逢三、六、九。据1995年的统计，圩上居民有48个姓氏，林、吴、刘、谢几姓较多，是个杂姓聚居的墟镇；邻近赤坑镇和陆丰潭西一带的人也常来赶集。[2] 国道324线从社区东北侧通过，省道241线自东北向西南穿过中心，沿线有派出所、卫生院、银行等机关。[2] 珠宝业是社区的特色产业，并带动了周边。[2] 社区有耕地630亩。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

红四师党代会旧址，海丰县政府网站说它在可塘社区，原是清代文祠，2008年重修。[3]
