赤石社区是赤石镇政府的驻地，在镇域中部，也是赤石圩所在，面积约0.5平方千米。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

这里1960年立居民大队，1968年改称五七大队，1987年转为居委会，沿用至今。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

社区共9个居民小组，街巷以中兴街、福兴街、米街、鱼街为主，博雅地名网载有1312户、3976人。圩上居民约2400多人，周边农村的人来此赶集，赤石圩被说成海丰县一处古老的圩集。[1]居民多数从事手工业、服务业或摆摊经商，辖区里有几十家做电线、塑料、造纸、假发、毛织、鞋面加工的厂；后来不少人去深圳、东莞务工。[1]

荣誉[edit]

赤石社区在2019年9月公布的名单中，成为广东省2018年度「民主法治示范村（社区）」的创建单位。[1]
