东红村的名称取自原先的东红小学，新中国成立后以校名作村名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

东红的前身是东一、东二两个大队。东一大队在1958年公社化时划归坭陂公社的坜陂管理区，1961年分公社又转入坜陂公社，称东红大队；1978年两队再分设。1984年成立乡人民政府时定名东红，1999年起为村民委员会；2004年11月坜陂镇撤销，该村归入坭陂镇。[1]
