新岭村的名称，是公社分设时取陂新的「新」字和宝墩岭的「岭」字合成。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
新中国成立初期属旧兴宁县第九区；1954至1957年初高级社时，新岭与陂新同为一个合作社；1958年公社化时划入坭陂公社陂新乡，1961年分设公社时叫新岭大队；1984年起为乡；1999年改为村民委员会。[1]
2004年11月撤销坜陂镇，原属其辖的新岭村委会改归坭陂镇。[1]
