红卫村的名称来自文化大革命时期的「红卫大队」，取保卫红色江山之意。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
新中国成立前属第九区陂北乡，之后改为河西村。1957年高级社时分出西围社，1958年公社化划入坭陂公社；1961年分公社，划入坜陂公社，名西联大队。文化大革命中改称红卫大队，1984年称红卫乡，1999年改称红卫村民委员会。[1]
2004年坜陂镇撤销后，红卫村随原坜陂镇辖区归坭陂镇。[2]2019年9月，红卫村被列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
