历史沿革[edit]
此地早年大片种棉、织土布，又位于平坦的河谷，于是得名棉洋。[1]
棉洋在1950至1980年是生产大队，此后乡政府的名称用于1981至1985年，管理区的名称用于1989至1998年，1999年起设村民委员会。[1]
经济[edit]
村里主要种植水稻、烤烟。据博雅地名网，村里一年的经济总收入约1875万元（所指年份未注明）。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]
村内的坑口刘氏宗祠建于明代，梅州市人民政府于2016年6月29日将其列入第四批市级文物保护单位。[2]
