棉洋镇在广东省梅州市五华县南部，距县城约46千米，东南与丰顺县、揭西县为邻，西北同安流镇接壤，东北则是双华、大都两镇。镇域面积242.91平方千米（另有约254平方千米的说法），户籍人口114677人（2019年末）。[1][2]
镇名与早年的植棉和土布生产、平坦的河谷地形有关。桥江镇原为独立建制，在2004年的乡镇调整中划入棉洋。镇内多个村以茶叶、桃驳果闻名。[1][2]
历史沿革[edit]
这一带旧称洑溪都棉洋约。1947年3月（民国三十六年）设棉洋乡，1950年5月改为区，1957年撤区复乡，1958年9月成了人民公社。1978年2月，平安公社自棉洋公社划出，1983年两社再合，改设区，到1986年定为镇。博雅地名网的两处文字对月份的记法不同：改区一说10月、一说11月，改镇一说3月、一说11月。[2]
2004年乡镇撤并，原桥江镇并入棉洋镇，因此镇内设有桥江社区和桥江村。[2]
地理环境[edit]
棉洋地处五华县最南端，与揭西县毗邻，气候属亚热带季风气候。博雅地名网称全镇有山地约26万亩、耕地约4.6万亩。[1][2]

各来源的数目不一：百度百科写明2020年6月辖1个社区、27个行政村；博雅地名网写2个社区、26个行政村，列出的名单为桥江、棉洋2个社区和26个村（含大光村）；维基百科的名单则缺大光村。[1][2][3]
人口[edit]
户籍人口方面，2019年末为114677人。按第七次全国人口普查（2021年6月公布结果），常住人口6.11万人，居五华县各乡镇第7位。[1][2]
经济[edit]
各村的主要作物有水稻、烤烟、茶叶和桃驳果等。百度百科称，棉洋镇是广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业镇，有「茶乡」「花果之乡」之称。2019年的统计是：经济总产值9.6亿元，较上年增长5.5%；农村居民人均收入9435元。农业农村部在2019年9月把它认定为第九批全国「一村一品」示范村镇，特色产品为红茶。[1][2]
2020年8月，镇内黎洞、竹坑、罗城、福城、唐纯5个村入选首批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村，所涉产业为茶叶或桃驳果。[2]
天柱山位于镇境内，最高海拔870米。博雅地名网转述的一篇游记称，那里种茶已有三百多年，是梅州九大名茶产区之一。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
- 坑口刘氏宗祠，在棉洋村，建于明代，2016年6月29日被梅州市政府列入第四批市级文保单位。[2]
- 皇恩宠锡（陈家祠），在联西村，明代建筑，2015年2月5日被梅州市政府列入第三批市级文保单位。[2]
- 棉洋刘氏二世祖墓，明代墓葬，2017年3月24日被梅州市政府列入第五批市级文保单位。[2][4]
- 雄鸡拔羽山墓，在罗城村，1984年发现，年代属战国早期，出土陶器8件。[2][5]
百度百科提到的景点还有五华青龙寨和天柱山；青龙寨的具体位置和情况，笔者查到的资料未载。[1]
荣誉[edit]
棉洋镇在2022年1月获评「广东省卫生城镇」（2021年度），在2023年2月又被五华县授予文明村镇称号（2022年度）。[2]
