潭头村位于惠州市惠城区横沥镇，是镇辖行政村，博雅地名网将其城乡分类记为镇中心区。据该网所载，元代建村，因邻近平潭镇、且在其上方，得名潭头。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

解放初期到1958年春是初级社，同年秋转为高级社，冬季成立横沥镇人民公社下的潭头大队，分潭东、潭西两片；1960年上半年建潭头大队，下设潭东村和潭西村。四清运动开始时的1964年，成立潭头大队管理委员会，此后一直运作到1984年；其间的1983年春，又建立了潭头乡人民政府，下辖潭东、潭西两村。1989年春改为潭头村管理区，2002年定为横沥镇潭头村委会。[1]

2026年1月，潭头村获评「广东省第二批“百千万工程”典型村」。[1]
