据博雅地名网，蚬岗圩清代初年形成，因地形似蚬壳而得名。[2]
地理环境[edit]
镇域北面倚烂柯山，与鼎湖区沙浦镇相邻。[3]据百度百科，镇区东距广州市区约60公里，西距肇庆市区约15公里；广肇、江肇两条高速公路与双金公路贯穿镇境，三者在镇中心相交，设有出入口。[1]2020年，蚬岗镇纳入金利省级高新区统一规划，2021年又划入肇庆大型产业集聚区的核心区。[1]

据博雅地名网，在2020年的第七次全国人口普查中全镇人口为2.72万人，在高要区各街道乡镇中居第12位，面积居第14位。[2]百度百科则记2022年全镇总人口约3.8万人，另有外来人口约5000人，居民以汉族为主。[1]两处口径不同，前者为普查常住人口。
经济[edit]
博雅地名网所录的镇概况（未注明年份）称，蚬岗是广东省在珠三角地区设立的十个现代农业示范区之一，同时位列全省六大蔬菜基地；常年蔬菜种植面积约2万亩，早晚两造水稻播种面积约2.2万亩。[3]工业方面先后建起水泥、制衣、塑料、五金工艺等项目，并开发境内的石灰石等矿产资源。[3]蔬菜品牌有“六瓜一豆”之说，蚬岗豆角即其中的“一豆”；另有红妃木瓜等特产。[2]2020年和2021年，富金社区（龟鳖）和蚬三村（种鹅）先后入选广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单。[4][5]
