急水村是安铺镇的行政村，村落位于九洲江下游，水流湍急，因此得名[1][2]。

1949年至1953年起归属廉江县第四区欧家行政村下辖的急水乡；其后1958年起改称急水大队，1983年起为河堤镇急水乡，1999年起改称急水村委会[1]。

2020年8月，急水村被列入「首批广东省一村一品一镇一业专业村」名单，产品为水稻[1]。
