村名取自所在地锦囊千户所城的城墙之内。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

民国年间因在锦囊城内，称锦城大队；1986年成为村委会，1988年成为管理区，1999年起成为村民委员会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

在2019年9月公布的名单中，它是「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」的创建单位。[1]

2026年3月，城内村被认定为第三批「广东省百千万工程典型村镇」。[1]
