东新街道是广东省湛江市霞山区下辖的街道，辖4个社区、4个行政村。街道原属新兴街道的一部分，建制时间为2003年2月，由湛江市人民政府批准[1]。街道名取自辖区内的主干道东新路[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

东新街道成立之前，其辖地是新兴街道的一部分；2003年2月，湛江市人民政府批准其建制，称东新街道[1]。2003年区域重新划分时，解放西社区、椹川南社区、社坛村先后由新兴街道划入，东山村原属海头镇，南山村原属海头街道，也都划归东新街道[1]。坛坡村据博雅地名网所载，自2010年1月起属东新街道[1]。

据博雅地名网，辖区面积约6平方千米，人口约6.99万人，人口密度约每平方千米11650人[1]。第七次全国人口普查（2021年6月公布）的结果中，东新街道的人口在霞山区各街道中居第4位[1]。
