锦星村是开平市沙塘镇东南部的行政村，距镇政府4公里多，下设8个村民小组，人口1822人、504户，耕地1281亩。[1]

地名由来[edit]

锦屏、五星两个村民委员会在2004年合为一个，新村名各取其一字。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清代在开平县平康都的范围内，到民国时期归第一区仙塘乡，1949年后归第十区五仙乡，1955年归长沙塘区。1961年编入苍城公社，名锦屏大队，翌年改隶沙塘公社。[1]

1984年设锦屏乡，1992年起隶属沙塘镇，名锦屏管理区；1999年为锦屏村民委员会，2004年再与五星村合并，成为锦星村。[1]

经济[edit]

村里土地资源较多，集体经济发展较快。2009年集体收入38.9万元，主要来自鱼塘和土地出租；农民人均年收入6791多元，约六成劳动力外出务工。[1]
