西头村是广东省台山市端芬镇下辖的行政村，村名取自村委会所在的西头。村子在端芬圩西南侧，四周与山底、海阳、塘头等村相接。[1][2]

按端芬镇人民政府2026年的介绍，全村面积3.18平方千米，分为18条自然村、21个村民小组，户籍614户、2153人。村子紧挨梅家大院，近年借助这类文旅资源发展乡村休闲旅游。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清代此地归矬峒都，民国年间划在台山县第八区端芬乡之下。1953年设西头乡；1957年1月成立西头农业社，次年11月转为西头大队。1961年，这个大队拆成联丰、上园两个大队，到1963年又合回西头大队。[3]

此后建制又变过几次：1983年8月25日起为乡，1987年1月起为村委会，1988年9月起为管理区，到1998年11月定为西头村民委员会。地名资料记载，2004年7月原六乡村委会并入，合并后仍叫西头村。[3][2] 不过镇政府介绍山底村时，写的是六乡于2005年6月与山底合并，两处说法不一致。[4]

2021年12月，广东省爱国卫生运动委员会授予西头村「2021年广东省卫生村」称号；2023年5月，村内的高地村也获评2022年度省卫生村。[2] 镇政府的介绍还提到，西头村获得过信用村、先进民兵营和五星级村级组织等称号。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村委会以北有凤山，山周围是一片冲积平原，地势平坦，灌溉方便，向来以种粮为主。[3] 面积有两种数字：地名资料作2.18平方千米，镇政府的现行介绍作3.18平方千米。[2][1]

经济[edit]

镇政府列出的农业资源是耕地1993亩，其中水田1630亩、经济作物265亩，另有林地487亩；地名资料则把耕地分为水田1828亩、旱地165亩。[1][3] 村集体的收入来自出租固定资产和发包土地，村民增收主要靠到外地打工或创业。[1]

较早的记载提到，村里开有加油站、碾米机和果场，家家多养猪和鸡鸭鹅，并办有小学、卫生站、医疗站，还有一处滑冰场。[3] 镇政府称村里正利用梅家大院等资源，把农业与文化旅游结合起来，同时修缮道路、水利等设施。[1]
