东北村在双水镇南门公路旁，一条河穿村而过，两岸分别叫东、北，村名由方位而来。[1] 村民以种水稻、果蔗为主，是无公害果蔗示范基地。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

元至大年间，钟姓先祖自西面约10千米外的土塘村迁来，在河的北岸立村；到明万历十八年（1590年），黎姓先祖又从会城迁到东岸另立一村。[1] 民国时属第七区达仁乡，解放初并入桥美乡，1953年与鱼冲合设东鱼乡，之后先后归基背乡和桥美管理区；东北大队直到1973年才单独组建，1984年起改称乡、村委会。[1]

经济[edit]

村内设3个村民小组，面积2.5平方千米，有520户、1820人，劳动力740人，耕地2579亩，其中水田1342亩、果蔗565亩；集体经济以鱼塘和经济田为主。[1] 2022年10月，东北村被广东省农业农村厅认定为2022年广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村（果蔗）；2026年3月被认定为广东省第三批「百千万工程」典型村镇。[1]
