双水社区位于双水镇的圩镇中心，居委会因设在双水圩而得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

圩市的形成要追溯到明永乐年间（1403年—1424年）：附近各村的村民来这里摆卖，渐成集市，起初叫「泷水圩」，民国初年以后慢慢写作「双水圩」。[1] 圩因临近泷水河的出海口而建，「泷」是多音字，后来改用谐音「双」。[1]

抗日战争期间会城沦陷，江门、会城一带的难民迁到这里谋生，商业逐渐兴旺。[1] 1953年首次设立双水镇；五年后并入双水乡，1984年恢复镇的建制（圩镇）；此后居委会的名称几度变化，2002年9月定为社区居委会。[1]
