地名由来与历史沿革[edit]
五沙一带昔日归罗姓地主，由河流冲积出五块沙地，故叫「罗五沙」；1948年建乡，新中国成立后去掉「罗」字，称五沙乡。1958年5个村分立大队，五沙成为片区名。[1] 1989年时辖有五沙一村、二村、三村、联盛、沙坑5个管理区，1998年8月合并为五沙管理区办事处，同年10月改设村民委员会，2004年变为五沙社区居民委员会。[1]
经济[edit]
2003年6月，经广东省政府批准成立顺德科技工业园，其A区建在五沙，俗称五沙工业园，已投产企业241家，以汽配和家电为主。[2]
人口[edit]
社区常住三万一千六百多人，户籍人口8506人，设一村、二村、三村、联盛、沙坑5个居民小组和对应的5个股份社。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2014年社区被评为「广东省宜居社区」和「广东名村」；2019年9月列入「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2023年11月入选广东「百千万工程」首批典型县镇村。[1][2]
