文教社区在里水镇北部，东面与广州白云区接壤，辖区面积5.26平方千米，下设11个村民小组[1]。

社区名来自旧称“大混滘”：几条河涌绕出一大一小两个河湾，当地把河湾叫“混滘”，靠近大河湾的村便叫大混滘；因粤语里“混”与“文”读音相近，后来写成大文教[2]。

历史沿革[edit]

明清属南海县金利司的下白石堡；1927年属第二区下白石堡；1928至1930年属第二区卫安乡（又称卫安十乡）；1931年属第二区白沙乡；1953年前属卫安乡；1953至1956年属第九区民安乡；1957至1958年属和顺乡民安片，其后先后归东风（官窑）公社、里和公社[1]。

村简介称，全村户籍人口3563人左右（970余户），外来暂住人口约550人；有耕地2000亩、鱼塘1200亩，其中农田保护区184亩[1]。
