大石社区在里水镇西北面，离镇中心3千米，紧靠桂和路，面积约2平方千米，设8个村民小组[1]。

社区名是原建安乡的石紫岗和沙丸乡的大元阁两个自然村，各取第一个字合成的[2]。

历史沿革[edit]

土地改革时叫大石乡，公社化后是大石大队，1980年称管理区，1999年为大石村民委员会；2011年，南海区政府批复同意（文号「南府复〔2011〕286号」），村委会撤销，设立大石社区居民委员会[1]。

人口与经济[edit]

社区简介称，常住人口约2280人，流动人口约4000人；2010年，全村的工农业总收入达5.83亿元，农村集体经济的纯收入为960万元[1]。
