平北社区是佛山市南海区桂城街道的主城区社区，因处在平洲北部而得名。[1] 此地为武术家林世荣（1861年—1943年）的出生地，据博雅地名网，他出生于平北西河村。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

1950年起称平洲乡北乡，1951年初曾改叫北村，约半年后又恢复；1953年4月起划属第十四区，1961年8月在缩小公社规模时改设平北管理区。[1]
