平东社区是佛山市南海区桂城街道的主城区社区，因处在平洲的东部而得名。[1] 2023年11月入选「广东百千万工程首批典型县镇村」，2024年4月列入「广东省第一批乡村振兴示范村」创建名单。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋明时期属南海县西淋都平洲堡，清乾隆年间起归五斗口司；民国时期先后称平洲堡、平洲乡，其中1930年称平洲东约乡；中华人民共和国成立后仍是平洲乡的一部分，分别属三区、六区和十四区。[1]
