叠二社区在佛山市南海区桂城街道西北部，属城乡结合部，管辖面积约2.5平方千米，东到南海大道，南到海三路，北到海八路，西与禅城区交界。[1][2] 名称中的「叠」来自叠滘，「二」表示排序。[1]

地名由来[edit]

据《南海叠孔氏家谱》记载，木村水脉（汾江水）分两道溪水流入，到叠南孔氏祠前汇合，因此得名「叠溪」。另一种说法是，汾江水从九处流入，溪流重叠、环绕全村，故称「叠」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

居委会成立于1997年（博雅地名网一处记为3月，另一处记为5月30日），获过广东省平安和谐先进社区称号。[1][2]

辖区含名苑、桂乐新村、翠庭轩、叠南市场、锦绣等15个生活小区，共10114套住宅，区内设有叠滘中学、海三路小学。博雅地名网载总人口25617人（年份未注明），其中户籍人口9723人。[2]
