桂城街道属广东省佛山市南海区，坐落在区的东部，南海区政府设在这里，它同时是佛山与南海的中心城区。东与广州市荔湾区交界，西为禅城区，南邻顺德区和广州市番禺区。[1][2] 面积84.16平方千米，辖45个社区。[1][2]
今天的桂城街道由两部分合成：桂城一带在1985年设区，平洲则早在唐代就有村落和圩市；两处于2005年并为一个街道。[3][4][8] 辖区内有千灯湖和金融高新区这样的新商务区，也有以玉器交易闻名的平洲。[5][6][7]
历史沿革[edit]
平洲一带唐代起逐渐有了村落和圩市，清代称平洲堡，属五斗口司；民国时期是平洲乡。[3][4] 新中国成立后，这里先后归南海县第三区、第六区和第十四区，1954年起称平洲区，人民公社时期曾并入上游公社，1963年恢复平洲公社，1985年2月改为平洲镇。[3]
桂城的建制晚于平洲：1985年7月，南海县新设桂城区，把东二、东约、南约、西约、北约五个乡从平洲区划来；次年又添入石肯、叠南、叠北三个乡。桂城区1987年改称镇，1992年9月再改为桂城街道。[3] 平洲镇同样在1992年9月改制为街道，名称源自驻地平洲圩。[4] 2005年两个街道合而为一，沿用桂城之名。[8]
关于「桂城」之名，博雅地名网的说法是：它靠近佛山旧时望族桂园李氏的聚居地。[2]
辖区内原来的行政村，多在2011年经「村改居」改为社区，平南、平西、夏东、西约、东区、中区、叠南、叠北、石肯等都是如此。[2] 2021年10月，街道共有45个社区；街道自己的介绍把它们分为23个城市社区和22个农村社区。[1][9]
地理环境[edit]
街道在珠江三角洲，气候属亚热带季风类型，西部平坦，三山片区一带有丘陵。佛山水道、东平水道、陈村水道在这里汇合，河道把桂城与大沥、番禺、荔湾、禅城隔开。千灯湖等几处湖泊是城市建设中人工挖成的。[8]

百度百科记载，截至2021年6月1日，街道常住人口732909人。[1] 博雅地名网引用第七次全国人口普查的结果，为73.29万人，在南海区各镇街中排第3。[2] 街道自称管理服务人口约100万，户籍人口约36万。[9]
经济[edit]
据街道概况，2022年桂城实现地区生产总值781.48亿元、税收149亿元，税收总量连续四年排在佛山32个镇街的首位。[9] 百度百科引述的2024年数据是：地区生产总值突破944亿元，税收136.7亿元，规模以上工业总产值预计548.86亿元。[1]
广东金融高新技术服务区在千灯湖片区，2007年7月获省政府授牌，定位为国际金融后台基地；百度百科称，至2021年底累计引进项目1302个，投资超2095亿元。[7] 平洲玉器起源于20世纪初，如今商户500多家，2022年成交额破百亿元，也是缅甸翡翠原石的集散地。[6]
城市更新方面，街道把映月湖、平胜、平洲工业园和林岳四片列为连片改造重点；夏北永胜村的旧村改造、澳门城与爱车小镇的混合开发，被街道概况专门提到。[9]
文化[edit]
街道介绍中的传统文化包括十番锣鼓、叠滘龙船漂移、广绣和剪纸。[9] 据百度百科，叠滘龙船漂移的习俗在明代形成，已列入佛山市非物质文化遗产项目；叠滘还传承国家级非遗「十番」锣鼓与飞钹技艺。[10] 平洲大圩是已有三百多年「趁圩」传统的老圩，2023年起实施活化改造。[4]
茶基村是中国传统村落，属于2013年8月公布的第二批名单。[8]
名胜古迹[edit]
千灯湖公园在灯湖西路，占地约302亩，建成于2001年8月，评为国家4A级旅游景区；百度百科称，它在2015年10月夺得全球城市开放空间大奖，是中国首个获此奖的项目。[5] 𧒽岗公园始建于1996年4月，次年9月全面开放，面积628.9亩；山顶的魁星阁重建后，在2015年元旦对外开放。[11] 桂城儿童公园由原平洲公园改建，建设面积约7.2万平方米，2022年8月31日起开放。[12]
叠南社区的江头古村开村于明代中期，现存江氏宗祠、遁叟江公祠和古民居群，其中江氏宗祠建于清康熙五十九年（1720年）。[2] 叠滘一带另有何氏宗祠、叠滘书院等历史建筑。[10]
街道称千灯湖片区入选「第二批国家级夜间文化和旅游消费集聚区」，全街道公园超过200个。[9]

轨道交通方面，广佛地铁在街道境内设5站，即桂城、南桂路、𧒽岗、千灯湖和金融高新区；佛山地铁2号线一期有林岳西、林岳东两站，3号线后通段有桂城、西约、叠滘三站；南海有轨电车1号线先后于2021年8月和2022年11月分段通车。[8] 三山港为国家一类对外口岸。[8]
下辖社区[edit]
街道的社区大体有两类。一类由旧村改制而来：叠南社区、叠北社区出自叠滘，平东、平南、平西、平北四社区出自平洲，夏东社区、夏北社区出自夏教，三山片区有中区社区和东区社区。另一类随新住宅区设立，如因千灯湖得名的灯湖社区，以及2018年12月设立的同成社区、2019年2月设立的文翰社区。[2]
著名人物[edit]
街道介绍提到的乡贤有明代太师梁储、状元伦文叙、武学宗师林世荣、爱国人士何香凝，以及粤剧演员林超群、林小群、林锦屏。[9] 梁储（1451年—1527年）曾任内阁首辅，百度百科称他是石肯人；林世荣（1861年—1943年）出生在平北西河村。[2][13]
