草尾村在小北山下、练江北岸，与和平镇练丰村交界；明万历年间（1573—1619）建村，地势低洼多草，村因此得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国年间归潮阳县第四区的和平和美社，1956年起属铜盂镇的草美大队，1984年改为乡，1986年改设村委会。[1]

人口经济[edit]

全村6048人，海外华侨和港澳台同胞1000多人；村居面积1.3平方千米，耕地730多亩，产稻谷、甘薯、甘蔗，侨胞捐资扩建校舍。2020至2022年列入「淘宝村」名单。[1]
