里美社区在汕头市潮阳区和平镇南侧，位于练江下游南岸，简介称其是革命老区。[1]

地名与历史[edit]

此地原在一条溪港下流，称港尾村；明代取《论语》里「里仁为美」之意，改称里美。村志类材料称创村于宋庆历二年（1042年），1952年土改时分为里美、塘围、下寨三乡。1958年起为里美农业生产大队，1984年改作里美乡，1986年建村委会，2002年改设居民委员会。[1]

经济[edit]

简介称社区有2550户、15307人，土地2776亩，其中耕地1576亩；和惠公路西侧开办了面积400多亩的工业区，有企业20多家，产品包括眼镜、音像、光盘、塑料彩条布、纺织和服装（简介未注年份，集体收入数字为2009年）。[1]
