坝光社区在葵涌街道的东部，三面环山、一面临海，原由18个自然村组成，沿约16千米海岸分布，原社区面积39平方千米。[1][2][3]

名称由来[edit]

相传这里早先是海滩，细沙堆成一道约400米长的沙岗，横在滩中，像一条海堤。最早迁来的林姓兄弟越梅、越海看到地形，把地方叫「坝岗」，后来「岗」字改成「光」。[1] 另一种说法是客家话里「岗」「光」读音相近，叫着叫着变成了坝光。[2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

村里的客家人说祖先300多年前从粤东河源紫金迁来，以农为业，渔、盐为辅，逐渐形成18个村落。[3] 解放前后一段时期，这一带归惠阳县第七区（大鹏区）的桂岗区，人口超过3000；1958年划入宝安县，当年11月，惠阳县的桂岗乡村民委员会随之改称宝安县坝光村民委员会。[1]

人口与搬迁[edit]

博雅地名网记载，原社区常住约2824人，户籍居民约2684人。[1] 因坝光国际生物谷建设需要，居民整体搬迁，安置区坝光新村设在葵丰社区的丰树山片区，用地211496平方米，总建筑面积667537平方米。[1] 据百度百科，原村于2016年全部拆迁。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

沿海生长着300多棵银叶树，最老的树龄500多年；银叶树是一种红树树种，国内外只分布在少数地方。[3] 盐灶古村一带的古银叶树群，在2022年评为广东省十大最美古树群，次年又入选全国「100个最美古树群」。[4] 2022年3月，坝光社区入选首批深圳市绿色（宜居）社区。[1]
