和平社区在深圳市宝安区福海街道，面积9.8平方千米，2004年7月因城市化改制成立社区居民委员会。地名「和平」的由来是：村子临近珠江口，常受海水和台风侵袭，村民以此名寄托盼望安稳的心愿。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据史料记载，和平一带古时是海洋与芦苇荡，由海水长年冲积成滩涂。新中国成立前这里没有成型的村子，只称为涌，居民靠水而居，被人叫作「水流柴」、基围人。新中国成立后，基围人分得土地，由公社统一规划，建起砖木结构的新村，1969年全部落成，和平才有了村落。[2]

1980年3月，原和平大队依批复分为和一、和平、新和三个大队，和一大队划归沙井公社。1987年1月福永镇撤乡建村，和平乡分设和平村民委员会与新和村民委员会；1993年1月改属宝安区福永镇。2004年7月城市化改制，改称和平社区居民委员会，隶属福海街道。[2]

人口民族[edit]

社区下辖3个居民小组，户籍常住436户1087人，总人口约14万；社区有各类企业300多家，吸纳了大量外来务工人员。2014年初，本地居民大规模迁入新建的「和平世家」小区，小区内设有星光老年之家、妇儿之家和幼儿园。[1]

和平社区在2022年8月获评「第二批深圳市绿色（宜居）社区」。[3]
