新街社区是澜河镇中心的社区，位于圩镇一带，邻近澜河村、白云村与上澜村，北面是凌江公司，占地约500亩。[1]名称的来由：澜河镇在老圩之外沿公路修了两条新街，因而得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1986年12月25日成立新街居民委员会，至今未改。[1]

概况[edit]

据博雅地名网所载，社区总人口430人，居民主要靠养殖和外出务工为生；社区内的农贸街市场约100平方米，供应日用品、农产品交易，并提供医疗服务。[1]
