地名由来[edit]
此地与绣缎镇原属同一治所，归大湖管辖。当时街市设在绣缎镇，俗称「老街」；两地分开后，大湖另设新街市，地名由此而来。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
此地于1982年设立居委会，初名大湖居委会。2004年更名为新街居委会，一直沿用到现在。[1]
