1951年设南方农会，1956年组建高级社，1958年改南方大队，1983年为南方乡，1987年称管理区，1998年撤区设村。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年9月，南方村（柑桔）列入第二批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单；2024年3月被命名为2023年广东省卫生村；2019年9月列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
