1958年称高峰大队，1983年起称山下乡，1987年定名为高峰村民委员会。[1]

村在江下公路旁的丘陵地带，只有一条村道贯通全村，离市区约8公里；村民种水稻、花生，以及荔枝、龙眼，收入多靠外出务工。[1]
