1956年建高级社，称新明高级农业社；1958年公社化时设新明大队；1983年12月与南方合并为白田乡；1987年1月分设，改称新明村村民委员会。[1]

105国道经村边通过，街北高速公路和增从高速公路在附近设有出入口，博雅地名网认为适合发展物流、仓储和货运。[1]2020年8月，村以水厅桂味荔枝入选首批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单；2020年、2021年、2022年均列入淘宝村名单。[1]
