据博雅地名网，社区得名的缘由是：辖区临桂花路，并取桂花富贵、崇高之意。[1] 社区原属新华街道办事处，2013年12月随粤民区〔2013〕18号文件划归花城街道办事处管辖。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年11月被广州市住建部门确定为「2021年绿色社区」。[1]
