西园村位于漳平市西部，沿龙岩至漳平的省道而建，离漳平城区约7公里，距龙岩市区约60公里。博雅地名网将其归为城乡结合区。[1]

村子坐落在九龙江西岸的一片开阔地上。它原名西洋坂，俗称箱坂（“西洋”二字读紧成一音），后来雅化作西园坂，简称西园。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明清时代已有村落。1934年为西园保，之后先后隶属第一区、登泰乡和党泰乡。1949年初称西园村，仍属党泰乡；1950至1952年后划为党泰区的西园乡。[1]

1958年村内析为西一、西二两个大队，之后归属过数个公社。1966年两个大队合并为西园大队，当时属西园公社。1984年村子改隶西园乡，村名定为西园村。撤乡建镇发生在2013年9月30日，此后村子仍归西园镇管辖。[1]

农业与产业[edit]

据博雅地名网，2012年村民人均收入为4600元，收入主要来自苦瓜、冬瓜等蔬菜种植，以及生猪等家禽养殖。苦瓜种植面积达800余亩，该网称其为福建省最大的苦瓜基地，也是龙岩市「一村一品」的试点。[2]

荣誉[edit]

福建省爱卫办于2021年11月授予西园村「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]

2024年5月，村子获命名为漳平市民主法治示范村（社区）；同年6月，又被认定为2024年漳平市「一村一品」专业村，主产蔬菜。[1]
