地名与沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，村民嫌马鞍岗山势“猛”，气势磅礴，后来改用谐音的“孟”字，成了现名[1]。孟岗乡始设于1952年，1958年一度拆成孟东、孟西、南丰、南新4个大队，1983年重新并为孟岗乡，下有15个自然村。其后的名称依次是孟岗村委会（1987年）、孟岗管理区（1990年）和孟岗村民委员会（1998年），最后一个沿用至今[2]。
硇洲灯塔[edit]
硇洲灯塔建在孟岗村境内东南海边的马鞍山顶，是1996年11月公布的第四批全国重点文物保护单位。1899年起由法国租借地当局主持建造，1904年竣工，灯塔用岛上的火山岩叠砌，灯器由水晶棱镜组成，1945年中国收回管理权，2004年起改为无人值守[3][4]。
荣誉[edit]
2022年9月，孟岗村获评当年的湛江市文明村；2026年3月，列入「广东省第三批“百千万工程”典型村镇」[2]。
