原中央候补委员吴岱是本村人，博雅地名网称大田村为他的故乡。村子此前称大田大队，1984年起为村委会。[1]

2025年11月，大田村被确定为「福建省2025年度省级一村一品专业村」（槟榔芋）；2026年1月，被确定为「福建省2026年度乡村振兴示范村」。[1]
