大同社区位于芗城区通北街道辖区，属城乡结合区域。社区名称源于早期大同大队迁入大同路，村委会成立时即取此名，村改居后沿用。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

社区的前身与市区的大同居委会有关。1955年，农业户另行划出，组成农业高级社，社名沿用下来。1958年9月改属市郊公社管辖，设为大同大队；1960年大队迁入大同路一带，1978年又迁至小坑头村。1984年定名大同村委会，2020年6月3日再改为大同社区居民委员会。[1]

2021年2月，社区入选「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。2024年1月，社区被命名为「2023年福建省卫生社区」。[1]
