福田村位于晋江市中部偏东的永和镇内，东边与龙湖镇福林村相接，西边是永和村，距永和镇区约2公里，距晋江市区约16公里[1]。村子原名草田，后来改称福田[2]。

地理与交通[edit]

村子南边到茂亭村，北边到旦厝村[1]。泉州环城高速和泉厦漳联盟高速从村内经过，并在这里设有福田枢纽，离龙湖高速出口不足3公里，到石狮服装城也只有约4公里[1]。

人口[edit]

2021年村情汇总表记载，村内总计1410人在此常住，60岁及以上的有233人，青壮年劳动力有1001人[1]。外出流动人口160人，去向以菲律宾、福建省内、广东、浙江和江苏等地为主，多从事经商和务工[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，明清时此地属十七、十八都。民国时期归至善乡管辖；建国后，先隶栖梧区福林乡，1960年并入永和街人民公社，以大队的形式设置[2]。1984年，它改设永和乡下的福田村委会；1991年，村委会改归永和镇[2]。

地名与荣誉[edit]

据说先祖择地建居时风大，看风水的先生的帽子被吹落到一片草地上，村子就在那片草地上定居，起初叫草田，后嫌「草」字不雅，改称福田[2]。2021年6月，福田村被命名为「2020年度晋江市平安村（社区）」[2]。
