埔头村位于龙湖镇政府驻地东北约3公里，东临深沪湾，东面毗邻沿海大通道与龙永公路，下辖埔头、林埔内、瑶林3个自然村。[1][2][3]

村名原作埠头，因地处滨海、原为船只停泊的埠口，后因杂姓人居，谐称埔头。[3]

地名由来[edit]

宋时，河南光州府固始县施姓部分族人南迁此地，村子因靠海而得名。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

村名历经多次更改，曾先后称浔江、埠头、上埕，后定为埔头乡。[3]

1960年冬正式定名埔头大队；1984年改为龙湖乡埔头村委会，1991年改隶龙湖镇。[2][3]

经济[edit]

村里以农业为主，农作物有甘薯、花生和大豆，矿产有石英砂。[3]

名胜古迹[edit]

瑶林自然村有石经幅塔，建于宋代，为县（市）级文物保护单位，实心石构的楼阁式经幅，共七层，通高3.92米。[3]

村中还有正觉堂，又称上埕释迦牟尼宫，也称埔头水尾大宫。[3]

荣誉[edit]

1993年6月，村党支部被晋江市委评为先进基层党组织。[3]
