地名由来[edit]
村民建居于一片草埔的前端，村名由此而来。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1961年在五里街公社下设埔头大队，1979年起沿用此名，1987年村名改为埔头村，隶属五里街镇。[1]
概况[edit]
据2020年的一份镇政府文件，村里有13个自然村，分13个村民小组，3480多人。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
生本堂是清代的古建筑，位于村中，属县级文物保护单位。主持建造者为林春庆。占地10亩上下，房屋建筑面积1600平方米左右，结构为红砖青瓦与大木，属典型闽南古厝。家族中先后有两人考中武进士，因此又称「进士第」，俗称“旗杆厝”。[3]
荣誉[edit]
2015年10月入选「福建省第一批省级传统村落」，2020年11月入选「2020年福建省金牌旅游村」名单，2020年12月入选「2020年度福建省一村一品示范村（水果）」名单，2020年12月被认定为「2020年泉州市中级版绿盈乡村」。2021年12月被确定为「福建省第二批高级版绿盈乡村（乡镇）」，2022年10月被认定为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」。[1]
