溪头村在河市镇东南部，位于洛阳江东岸，与惠安县交界，东与惠安县虎堀村相邻。[1][2]

村民在小溪上游建屋，因而称溪头。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

清末，此地称东垵村，属晋江县四十一都玉泉乡爱玉里。民国时期隶大猷乡；解放后归晋江县第二区团结乡管辖。[1][2]

1961年，溪头自原属的大队分出，成为独立的溪头村；此后称河市镇溪头村，村委会驻于坑下自然村。[1][2]

村由溪头、坑下、西埭三个自然村组成，全村1072人、287户，9个村民小组，未注统计年份。[2]
