埔头村位于曹远镇中部，靠近永砂公路，距镇政府约7公里，海拔170米。村名原作「铺头」，因旧时此地店铺、客栈、码头众多而得。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明清时期隶属永安县三十一都，民国时期划入大湖区。1966年曾划入坑边公社，1969年又回到曹远公社；1984年此地设村民委员会，村名仍用埔头。1992年起归曹远镇管辖。[1]

2021年，福建省爱卫办命名埔头村为「2021年福建省卫生村」；2024年6月，村庄列入「福建省第四批高级版绿盈乡村」名单。[1]
