西园村位于省道306线沿线，距该路约2公里，是广平镇的行政村之一。[1]

地名与历史沿革[edit]

村子位于溪流西侧的山坳中，旧称西坑。因与他处同名，改称西园。[1][3]

1984年改称广平镇西园村并设村民委员会。1958年归广平公社，1961年划入东西公社，1970年又归广平公社。更早的时候，解放初属大田第四区，1956年改属文江区，民国时归广铭乡，明朝时属大田北区四十五都。[2]

经济[edit]

村内农业以种植水稻、烟叶为主，另有柑桔、大豆、花生、西瓜、甘蔗和油茶等作物。[1]

荣誉[edit]

西园村于2024年7月被命名为「2023年度三明市达标“六无”村（社区）」，同月又被确定为「2021-2023年三明市达标“六无”村（社区）」。[1]
