山尾村位于赖店镇内，村名的来历是：始祖在1345年由巩桥迁到梅山开基，祖厝位于山的尾端，村名遂称山尾。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，始祖五朗春公于1345年由巩桥迁入梅山开基，子孙聚居。清末改称山尾。[1]

解放前，此地归孝仁乡。1950年起，村子先隶乌墩区乌墩乡，之后改入玉墩区与山尾区，并在1956年归城关区玉墩乡管辖。1962年，它成为赖店公社的玉墩大队，此后又改称山尾大队。1984年10月，山尾村委会成立，隶赖店乡；1992年后随镇属赖店镇。[1]

文化[edit]

2024年1月，山尾村被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

山尾鸣峰寺在鸣峰岩上，是仙游县第一批县级文物保护单位。山尾郑氏民居在朴园，属近现代重要史迹及代表性建筑，列为一般不可移动文物点。山尾长安宫在尾厝自然村，也是一般不可移动文物点。[1]
