新和村位于郊尾镇东南部，离镇区约1公里。东面依傍马鼻山，南侧以沙溪、旸谷为界，西边临郊尾街，北边靠着长安村。地势东北高、西南低，海拔44米。[1]

村名的由来：1953年，从阳谷乡划出东山、积埔、蔡厝三个自然村，又从庆和乡划出陈厝、后宋、邦元、下申厝四个自然村，合并成一个新乡；因是新组合，希望彼此和睦，遂名新和。[1]

2022年10月，村子被认定为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」；2024年1月，获评「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立前，此地隶属香田乡；1950年转入第三区，1952年又改属第四区。1953年设立新和乡，其后一年改组成光星农业合作社。自1955年起直到1956年6月，村子隶属枫亭区，1956年改属郊尾区，1958年划入郊尾公社，成为新和大队。[1]

1984年11月，村内设立新和村村民委员会，隶属郊尾乡；1985年3月乡改为镇，归郊尾镇。村下辖八个自然村，共12个村民小组，村中郑、陈、吴、林等十二个姓氏聚居。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

新和陈经邦墓在积埔自然村，属古墓葬，为仙游县第二批县级文物保护单位。[1]
