西园村为靠海的村落，新文公路右侧的沁桥路穿过村域，城港大道从村南横跨。村名是因原与双告山合称双园大队，分设后位于双告山以西而得。村内设有汽车客运站。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年此地曾并入一个大队，1964年另立西园大队，其间又有过合并与分开，1984年正式称西园村，归莆田县忠门乡管辖。[1]

文化[edit]

西园村于2023年11月获认定为「2023年度莆田市中级版绿盈乡村」，2024年9月被认定为「2024年莆田市一村一品专业村」，主导产业为马糕。[1]
