埔头村位于常太镇西部，地势较高，村子靠着山坡而建，坡度较大。[1]

村名的由来是村子靠近山坡，地势高而坡陡。[1]枇杷与龙眼是村中主要作物。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时期，此地为常太乡公所辖下的普投保；1950年设埔头乡。1956年并入常太埔头高级社，1957年隶属溪莒乡。1984年12月改设埔头村委会，隶属常太乡；1992年10月划入莆田县常太镇。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2024年1月，村子被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]
