江头街道是福建省厦门市湖里区下辖的街道，位于区境南部，2004年7月由禾山镇析分设立。[1][2]

街道地处厦门岛的几何中心一带，台湾街是辖区内主要的商贸街道。[3][4]

历史沿革[edit]

明代，今街道地域分属嘉禾里二十三都的几处地名，吕厝、埭头与乌石浦都在其中；明末，筼筜港一带开始称作「江头」，清康熙年间以后分为江头社与江头街社两部分。[5]

「江头」的得名有两说：一说辖区西部曾是筼筜港的尽头，闽南话「港」「江」同音，「港头」便转成了「江头」；另一说，傅厝溪与三条桥溪在此汇合入海，入海处正是江的尽头，故得此名。[4]

民国时期此地为江头保的辖域。20世纪50年代初此处设江头乡，1958年并入前线人民公社，成为其中的江头生产大队；1964年，江头街的一部分被划出，另设江头居民委员会。[5]

1984年，人民公社体制撤销，代之以禾山乡，江头生产大队随之更名为江头行政村。1989年6月，禾山乡被撤，禾山镇随即设立；江头居委会与江头行政村依旧存在，其后这一行政村渐次转为居民社区。[5]

进入2004年7月，原禾山镇辖地改设三个街道；本片区沿用旧名「江头」，定名江头街道，以延续地方的历史文化积淀。[5][1][2]

街道于2021年2月入选「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。[4]

地理环境[edit]

街道位于湖里区南部，面积10.41平方千米（据百度百科），博雅地名网则作约10.21平方千米。[1][4]

东边临湖边水库，与金山街道相接；东南、南与思明区的莲前、嘉莲两个街道为邻；西南隔嘉禾路与筼筜街道相望；西北与北面隔园山，接湖里街道和殿前街道的火炬园；东北以薛岭山与禾山街道相接。[1][3]

鹰厦铁路、福厦铁路与成功大道穿过街道，街道中心距火车站、机场和厦门国际邮轮客运码头约需15分钟车程。[4]

人口民族[edit]

据百度百科，2011年末街道总人口17.08万人；博雅地名网则以2012年底为时点，记人口18.52万人。[1][3]

文化[edit]

台湾街沿线聚集了大型商业设施，有城市综合广场，以及家电连锁与五金、百货、蔬菜等批发市场。[3]
