中山社区位于中华街道，社区名称取自辖内的中山路。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

解放初，此地设中山居委会。1969年它曾称更新居委会，1976年又称东方红居委会，直到1979年才恢复原名。[2]

2002年，一个原属思明街道的居委会并入本社区，另有两处居委会的部分地段划来，辖区由此扩大。2003年，又有一个居委会及另一处居委会的部分地区划入，辖区再度扩大。[2]

2004年三街合并之后，本社区居委会归中华街道办事处管辖。2006年4月，中华街道重新整合居委会，两个社区并为一个，定名为中山社区。[2]
