村落位于百丈岭之下，因而得名，村中有岭下一境。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代归长东乡新宁里，元代沿用其制。明代划入南上隅的新宁里，属图一；1910年（清宣统二年）改属东张镇。1943年归玉林乡，芦岭保分出3甲；1950年划入第六区道桥乡，1958年改隶东张公社的道桥大队。[1]

1959年单设岭下大队，1984年大队改为村委会，仍隶属东张镇。[1]
